In the Pre-Alps, the Vercors dominates the plains of Isère and Drôme, offering an ideal setting for a holiday with family or friends.
The Vercors is a regional nature park with many attractions. In fact, if you stay at a campsite in the Vercors, you'll discover much more than just a mountain range. Take advantage of an ideal natural setting to recharge your batteries. The slopes formed by the mountains offer splendid valleys through which you can hike to sumptuous panoramic views, as well as enjoying a wide range of sporting and aquatic activities. Or discover a culture and a land with a strong character. You could, for example, discover caving, rediscover the thrills of canyoning or challenge your taste for effort on a bike.
But beyond camping in the Vercors, the nature park is also renowned for its winter sports resorts. These are known as the Four Mountain Parishes, later abbreviated to the Four Mountains. Lans-en-Vercors, Autrans, Méaudre and Villard-de-Lans are known for welcoming many winter sports enthusiasts. However, the area is well worth a visit all year round, as each season offers a different, but still sumptuous, spectacle.
As well as the villages that make up the 4 Montagnes, there's Pont-en-Royans, a pretty village set into the side of a rock on the banks of the River Bourne. A river also renowned for its gorges, not to be missed during your stay in the Vercors. Lose yourself in the narrow streets before visiting the Musée de l'Eau (Water Museum), which illustrates the importance of this natural element to our lives and that of our planet.
You should also take the time to visit the caves. The Vercors region has a large number of caves, and once again nature is likely to surprise you. In the Choranche cave, you'll even have the privilege of meeting an animal like no other. This is the protée, a salamander from the Balkans, which was already on Earth at the time of the dinosaurs.
Finally, after a good day's sightseeing near our Vercors campsite, treat yourself to some gourmet delights. Taste the many specialities of the region. Ravioles du Royans, charcuterie, cheeses or digestifs… Epicureans will find everything they need to indulge themselves.
